NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 18 — The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted a significant rise in temperatures in several regions with readings exceeding 30 degrees.

The weather agency listed Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, Garissa, Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi, Nairobi, Bungoma, Kakamega, Busia, Vihiga and Narok among counties set to experience the range.

“High average daytime temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius are expected in selected parts of the country over the remaining weeks of March,” the agency said in an advisory on Monday.

It said most of the country will continue experiencing sunny and dry conditions.

The Meteorological Department however forecasted above-average rainfall in the Central Highlands, South-Western Kenya, South-Eastern lowlands and the Coast.

“Some areas in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Murang’a and Kirinyaga may experience low night-time temperatures (below 10 degrees Celsius),” it noted.

In addition, some areas in Nairobi, including Kamkunji, Makadara, Embakasi West, Embakasi Central and Embakasi North are projected to experience moderate rainfall between March 19 and 25.

The Meteorological Department urged caution where episodes of heavy rainfall occur.
