Kenya issues advisory to citizens as Israel-Iran conflict intensifies

The Government of Kenya has issued an urgent security advisory to all its nationals residing in Israel and Iran due to intensifying hostilities between the two Middle Eastern nations.

In a statement released on Wednesday by Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu, the government urged all Kenyan citizens in the conflict-affected areas to exercise extreme caution, minimize movement, and stay informed as the situation develops.

“The safety and well-being of Kenyans abroad remain our utmost priority as the situation in the Middle East continues to evolve,” PS Njogu.

The advisory comes amid mounting global concern over the escalating military tensions between Israel and Iran, which have disrupted air travel, strained diplomatic relations, and triggered widespread security alerts. Several countries have advised their nationals to reconsider travel to the region and prepare for possible evacuation scenarios.

Key safety directives

Principal Secretary Njogu called on Kenyan nationals in Israel and Iran to “exercise extreme caution, avoid non-essential movement, stay indoors when possible, and follow local authority instructions.”

She also urged those affected to monitor local news and official alerts closely, and to ensure they keep key documents and emergency supplies ready.

Furthermore, she encouraged affected nationals in Israel and Iran to stay connected with family and loved ones to update them on their safety status.

“Contact our missions in Tel Aviv and Tehran if you require urgent assistance or are in distress,” PS Njogu added in the advisory.

Kenyans in distress or in need of urgent support can now reach out to the State Department for Diaspora Affairs via: Phone: +254 20 7876000 / +254 114 757002 or Email: Consular@diaspora.go.ke.

“Register your presence with the Kenyan mission near you if you have not done so, to ensure you can be reached quickly in case of evacuation or emergency support,” Njogu emphasized.

The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, through its missions in Israel and Iran, continues to monitor developments closely. Njogu affirmed the government’s full commitment to the protection and welfare of Kenyans abroad, stating that further advisories will be issued depending on how the situation unfolds. She assured that all necessary interventions will be made to assist those in need.
