Kenya and Japan Deepen Bilateral Ties in Strategic Meeting

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi Thursday held a pivotal bilateral meeting with Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hisayuki Fujii, to discuss deepening cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting, attended by a delegation from Japan’s business community, highlighted mutual interests and strategic cooperation.

The discussions focused on the upcoming Kenya-Japan Trade and Investment Forum in Nairobi.

This meeting highlights the continued commitment of both countries to elevate their relationship to new heights, building on their shared history of cooperation and mutual respect.

The two leaders explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in vital sectors such as infrastructure, education, agriculture, climate change, and defense.

Acknowledging Japan’s invaluable contributions to Kenya’s development through official development assistance and investment in priority sectors.

The PCS reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to deepening the partnership, built on 61 years of enduring diplomatic relations.

Dr. Mudavadi assured Fujii of Kenya’s participation in key global events, including TICAD 9 in Yokohama (August 2025), the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, and the 2027 Horticultural Expo in Yokohama.

Japan has been a key development partner, supporting Kenya through infrastructure projects, education programs, and climate adaptation initiatives.
