Justice Majanja to be cremated today in a private ceremony
High Court Judge David Majanja will be cremated on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in line with his wishes.
The highly respected judge is said to have indicated in his will that his body be cremated upon his death.
The interment will be preceded by a funeral service at Friends International Centre, Ngong Road starting at 9 am.
The cremation at the Kariokor Cemetery in Nairobi will be a private family affair.
A Memorial Service is slated for this Saturday in Shinyalu constituency, Kakamega County.
Both events will be live-streamed on the Judiciary’s social media platforms.
Majanja who was a Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), passed away last Wednesday while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
“We are all heartbroken,” Chief Justice Martha Koome said in announcing his death. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Judiciary and JSC fraternity during this time of deep sorrow and sadness.”
The President described Majanja as a brilliant lawyer who joined the Bench after an exemplary spell at the Bar.
