Joel Rabuku fires tough warning to bloggers who rushed to announce his father’s death
Joel Rabuku, General Francis Ogolla’s son has called out bloggers for breaking news about his father’s crash by sharing videos of a burning plane online minutes after the crash.
Speaking at his father’s burial ceremony, Joel asked bloggers to be sensitive when breaking news related to death.
“There are very useless bloggers, who are so quick to post pictures. Some people are so insensitive. So you broke the news, have you been given his job?” he posed.
“When my mother called me and told me my father had gone down in a helicopter crash, very useless bloggers were so quick to post pictures.
10 minutes later I saw a helicopter burning, what that does mean, Of course, he was dead and people are so insensitive. So you broke the news have you been given an EGH for breaking the news that the General is dead?
Let us be sensitive, bloggers. People in the media, tell these bloggers to be sensitive, that behavior is not good,” Joel said.
Ogolla was among the 10 officers who died in a helicopter crash on Thursday on the border between Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gichu counties.
They were on a peace mission in the troubled Rift Valley region, which has been plagued by cattle rustling and banditry.
At the same time, Joel Rabuku Omondi dismissed rumours that his father’s relationship with President William Ruto was frosty.
“People should stop that talk. These guys were friends at State House,” he said.
