Janet Mbugua – We deserve answers, justice, and safety!
Former TV presenter Janet Mbugua is urging Kenyans to share information about available legal and medical support resources through various social media platforms and handles.
She believes this collective effort will empower Kenyans as they bravely advocate for change. On her social media channels, she emphasised, “#KenyaNiHome.”
Mbugua expressed deep concern over disturbing killings, divisive blame games, and the neglect of the core issue: systemic failures within the government.
She called for a focus on sustainable solutions and addressing escalating human rights abuses, cautioning against dangerous rhetoric emerging amidst the unrest.
In solidarity with ongoing street demonstrations, she invoked the rallying cry, “Justice be our shield and defender,” for the country.
These sentiments align with the current national unrest, where activists like Boniface Mwangi have mobilized citizens both on the streets and at home to demand accountability from the government.
Mwangi stressed that the protests would persist until the government takes tangible responsibility for the deaths of demonstrators.
While the government has officially acknowledged 25 deaths, the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) reports a higher toll of 41 deaths and 360 injuries.
