Apr 6 – Reiterating India’s firm stance on Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) as an integral part of India, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized that this position reflects the consensus of the entire nation, transcending political affiliations.

Speaking at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram, Jaishankar underscored that the issue of PoK is not merely the stance of a single political party but a unified position endorsed by the Indian Parliament and supported across the political spectrum.

Addressing concerns about terrorism emanating from Pakistan, Jaishankar affirmed India’s unwavering commitment to combatting terrorism resolutely.

He asserted that any disruptive activities would be met with a strong and decisive response, underscoring India’s steadfast resolve in safeguarding its national security interests.

Touching upon the complex relationship with China, the Foreign Minister acknowledged the challenges but affirmed India’s readiness to engage in competition assertively.

Despite the inherent complexities, Jaishankar expressed confidence in India’s capability to assertively advance and defend its interests in a competitive global landscape.

Jaishankar dismissed any doubts regarding India’s relationships with its neighbors, attributing any disruptive forces to internal and external elements seeking to sow discord.

He highlighted India’s constructive engagements with neighboring countries, citing instances of support extended during times of need. Despite challenges in relations with Pakistan and China, Jaishankar emphasized that India’s overall engagement with neighboring nations has witnessed significant improvement, fostering greater regional stability and cooperation.
