India Issues Advisory as Israel Launches Preemptive Strike on Iran » Capital News
June 14 – The Indian Embassy in Tehran has issued a safety advisory to Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin residing in Iran, urging them to remain vigilant amid rising tensions.
“In view of the current situation in Iran, all Indian nationals & persons of Indian origin in Iran are requested to remain vigilant, avoid all unnecessary movements, follow the Embassy’s social media accounts & observe safety protocols as advised by local authorities,” the Embassy said in a statement posted on X.
The advisory follows a reported preemptive airstrike by Israel on Iranian targets, which Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant described as a necessary action in light of an imminent threat. Israeli media quoted Gallant as declaring a state of emergency across the country, warning that a retaliatory missile and drone attack from Iran could occur imminently.
“You must obey the instructions of the Home Front Command and the authorities and remain in the protected areas,” Gallant said, according to The Times of Israel.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened the Israeli security cabinet shortly after air-raid sirens sounded across the country. The IDF clarified the sirens were part of a warning system to prepare the population for what it described as “a new situation.”
Tzvika Tessler of the IDF’s Home Front Command stated that Israel could face “a significant attack from the east” in the coming hours, possibly involving “heavy missiles” capable of reaching any part of the country.
The Israeli military confirmed it had launched a wide-ranging aerial campaign targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and military facilities. Dubbed “Operation Nation of Lions,” the offensive includes dozens of strikes on facilities reportedly linked to Iran’s nuclear programme.
According to the IDF, Iran possesses sufficient enriched uranium to construct several nuclear bombs within days, calling the situation “an imminent threat.”
