India Delivers Dornier-228 Aircraft to Guyana, Strengthening Bilateral Partnership » Capital News
Apr 2 – India has delivered two Dornier-228 aircraft to Guyana, marking a significant milestone in the partnership between the two nations.
A team from the Indian Air Force (IAF) traveled to Guyana to deliver the HAL-228 aircraft. The High Commission of India in Guyana shared the news on social media, stating, “High Commissioner welcomed IAF team visiting Guyana to deliver the HAL-228 aircraft as part of Line of Credit from India to Guyana.” This delivery marks the beginning of a new phase in the India-Guyana partnership.
President of Guyana, Mohamed Irfaan Ali, confirmed the arrival of the planes at Cheddi Jagan International Airport on Sunday evening. He expressed gratitude, stating, “The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited @HALHQBLR delivered two Dornier 228 planes to the Guyana Defence Force. The planes arrived at Cheddi Jagan International Airport last evening aboard two Boeing C-17 Globemaster military transport planes.”
India and Guyana enjoy close relations founded on robust people-to-people ties, economic collaborations, and shared perspectives on global issues. The delivery of these aircraft underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Randhir Jaiswal, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, highlighted the significance of the event on social media, stating, “A new chapter in bilateral relations! Two aircraft manufactured by @HALHQBLR were delivered to Guyana. These would help in connecting remote areas, medical evacuation, and disaster response.”
Despite the geographical distance between India and Guyana, the two countries share commonalities, including a colonial history, predominantly agricultural economies, and multicultural societies. This delivery symbolizes India’s commitment to supporting Guyana’s development and enhancing connectivity and disaster response capabilities in the region.
