“I need you, I was almost a lonely voice” says Ruto

President William Ruto has expressed frustration over the lack of support from the Deputy President’s office over the past two years.

Speaking after the inauguration of his new deputy, Kithure Kindiki, Ruto, who had previously remained silent on Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment, stated that he felt like a lonely voice in the Presidency while pushing his administration’s transformative agenda.

Ruto praised Kindiki, referring to him as “Abra-K,” and expressed his relief at having him on board as his second-in-command, noting that Kindiki represents the much-needed voice he has missed.

“My brother, I need your voice and intellect to help me and members of the cabinet to profile the things we are doing, to speak to the things I have almost become a lonely voice in the Executive especially in the Presidency. I am confident you will do that which I have missed for the last two years” he said amid applause.

Looking ahead, Ruto pledged that he and his new deputy would deliver on their mandate to serve all Kenyans equally while respecting the rule of law.

We will serve the people of Kenya equally. No region will be left behind. I will call him ‘Abra K’… Abra K, please serve the people of Kenya. We are not here to serve our communities or regions, but the Republic of Kenya. Serve without ill will or fear” he said.

He reiterated that Kindiki was the best choice for the role.

“I have seen Kithure Kindiki in many capacities; he is a dedicated professional and a champion of our Constitution. I am honoured that he is willing to serve as my deputy. Kindiki is a highly qualified and accomplished scholar, advocate, and public servant whose career has demonstrated a commitment to positive change and high standards of efficiency in his duties,” Ruto added.
