Hundreds of Afghan Refugees Deported from Pakistan amid Worsening Situation » Capital News

Apr 23 – Pakistan has deported over 800 Afghan refugees through the Torkham and Spin Boldak crossings.

Officials confirmed that a total of 837 refugees were sent back to Afghanistan within the past 48 hours.

The Taliban-led Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation stated that 90 families, totaling 468 individuals, returned via the Torkham crossing. Similarly, 67 families, comprising 369 people, crossed through the Spin Boldak crossing.

Despite these deportations, the situation for Afghan refugees remains dire. Many continue to face challenges such as homelessness, limited access to essential services like healthcare and education, and vulnerability to discrimination and exploitation.

The recent implementation of Pakistan’s second phase of deporting illegal refugees has further exacerbated the plight of Afghan refugees.

This development has heightened concerns about their well-being and safety, amplifying the urgency for humanitarian assistance and support.
