Nairobi, Kenya Aug 18 – Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya now says the government has made significant progress in improving the livelihood of Kenyans.
Oparanya who on Saturday accompanied President William Ruto during the launch of Malava water sanitation project in Namanja, Kakamega County assured that moving forward he will collaborate closely with President Ruto for the development of the region.
“I want to thank President William Ruto for appointing me to serve in his Cabinet. I obeyed his call by being here even before 9.00 Am in the morning. I now leave politics to Malulu so as to unite with the President to bring development,” he said.
He emphasized that the region will benefit from various development projects now that he has accepted to join the Kenya Kwanza administration following his recent appointment as Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary.
“The people of Kakamega have agreed that we unite with President Ruto and help him so that we can work together for the few days I have been in government. I have witnessed that the government has done good deeds now that I joined the government,” he stated.
Operanya said the newly commissioned Malava Cluster Water Supply Project will not only provide sufficient and safe water for households but also create job opportunities for the unemployed youth in the region.
The water project will serve over 100,000 residents in Chemuche, East Kabras, South Kabras, Shirugu Mugai, Butali Chegulo and Manda Shivaga area.
Operanya was among 4 Key members from Raila Odinga Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) Party that were appointed to serve in Ruto’s Cabinet.
President Ruto pledged that he is committed to forming a Broad Based government of National Unity.
