NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 21 – The Vice Chief of Defence Forces, Charles Muriu Kahariri, paid tribute to the late General Francis Ogolla, highlighting his leadership and commitment to the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
Ogolla, along with nine other officers, tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash in Elgeyo-Marakwet on Thursday.
During the memorial service at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Saturday, Kahariri, who is designated to take over as CDF, described Ogolla as a visionary leader who significantly contributed to the operations of the country’s military.
He emphasized Ogolla’s firm yet fair approach to leadership, grounded in his strong professional background, spiritualism, and intellectual abilities.
Kahariri further stated that Ogolla’s legacy includes the vision and documents he left behind to enhance the capabilities of the KDF.
He assured President William Ruto, who led the nation in paying tribute to Ogolla, of the KDF’s unwavering commitment to national security.
“We are continuing with our duties of securing our country just like the General would have wanted us, and his passing will only give us the impetus to do more,” Kahariri affirmed.
General Ogolla will be laid to rest on Sunday at his home in Siaya.
