Former Murang’a Governor’s wife arraigned in Ksh562M graft case




Former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria’s wife Jane Waigwe Kimani was on Tuesday charged with conspiring to defraud the county Ksh351 million.

Jane appeared before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Magistrate  Victor Wakhumile alongside David Maina Kiama where they pleaded not guilty to the corruption charges.

The two are accused of irregularly awarding contracts for the provision of media buying services awarded to Top Image Media Consultants Limited by Muranga county government amounting to Ksh351 million.

They were released on a bond of Ksh5 million or in the alternative a cash bail of Ksh1 million.

The two were also ordered to deposit travel documents with the court and not to leave the country without the court’s permission.

The matter will be mentioned on 14th May, 2024.
