Flooding: KeNHA announces temporary closure of Garsen-Witu-Lamu Road

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the closure of Garsen-Witu-Lamu Road between Gamba and Lango la Simba.

The authority said the road was closed due to flooding after Tana River burst its banks.

“The ongoing heavy downpour experienced upstream that has resulted in the Tana River breaking its banks and subsequent overtopping of the road thus hampering transportation activities,” KeNHA DG Engineer Kungu Ndungu said in a public notice.

KeNHA urged motorists to exercise caution amid the heavy flooding witnessed in parts of the country.

“The authority will keep monitoring the situation and give further updates to the public in due course,” said KeNHA.
