First Lady Rachel Ruto, leaders convey heartfelt Mother’s Day wishes

First Lady Rachel Ruto has expressed warm wishes to mothers across the country as the world marks Mother’s Day.

In a heartfelt message, the First Lady described mothers as the backbone of families, the pillars of communities and the embodiment of love and strength.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mums in Kenya and around the world!” said Rachel as she acknowledged the sacrifices and role mothers play in shaping lives.

“May your day be filled with joy, appreciation and countless blessings. To every mother, grandmother, aunt and mother figure, thank you for all that you do,” she added.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, in his message to mothers said,  “A mother is the Special Bond that holds the family and our nation together. We are because of our mothers,” said Gachagua.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki hailed mothers as selfless beings who put their children’s interests first.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers in Kenya and the world. For putting the interests of your children before yours, for the immense sacrifices you make for the well-being of families, and for the love of family and Country, thank you for prioritising what matters most.”

Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano likened mothers to unique flowers, beautiful yet resilient.

“To all mothers, you’re unique like flowers, beautiful, resilient and strong! Special dedication to that one mother who lost a child during the recent floods, may this day bring peace that surpasses human understanding,” she said.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti described mothers as the heart of families and communities.

“Today, we celebrate the love, strength, and endless sacrifices mothers make every day. Thank you for being the heart of our families and communities. Wishing you a day filled with joy and appreciation.”

Mother’s Day is celebrated annually on the second Sunday in May to recognise mothers for the role they play in society.
