Fire alarm prompts temporary relocation at JKIA Terminal 1C

A fire alarm system was activated at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Sunday afternoon prompting relocation of flights scheduled on Terminal 1C Check-In area.

According to a statement by KAA, the airport’s Fire and Rescue fighting team promptly responded to the situation which occurred at 14:55 hours.

“At 14:55 hours today, the fire alarm system at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Terminal 1C Check-In area was activated.” The statement read.

Adding that: “While the alarm was initially silenced, it continued to be reactivated, prompting the temporary shutdown of the fire alarm system for further investigation.”

KAA says as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and security of passengers and operations personnel, Terminal 1C was temporarily vacated.

“All flights scheduled for Terminal 1C have been seamlessly relocated to Terminal 1A and Terminal 1B, with no disruptions to flight operations.”

The Authority reassured the public that operations at the airport remain normal, noting that teams are on-site working to resolve the issue.

Passengers have been advised to check with their respective airlines for any updates regarding terminal assignments.

“The airport management assures the public that safety remains a top priority and appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders during this time.” KAA assured.
