KIRINYAGA, Kenya, Apr 19 – The family of John Kinyua Muriithi has started preparation for his burial after they were informed that their kin had indeed perished.

His brother Joseph Muthii said they spent the part on the day on Monday together where he had a project of poultry farming.

“He came in the evening and picked his daughter who had come to visit the grandparents and left. We talked on Thursday in the morning planning for a get-together that is supposed to be held on Saturday,” he said.

Muthii went on to narrate how their mother was against him(Kinyua) joining the military after clearing his four years education in 2002 at the Baricho High school where he scored an A(minus).

After the mother released him in 2007 he was among those that were selected to join the force.

“My brother had tried severally to join the military since that’s where his passion was, but our mother was against it, he tried as from 2002 and subsequent years but in 2007 when mum said he was free to try his luck, he was among those that were selected without any struggle” Muthii added.

His father Joseph at Muriithi did not oppose his son joining the military and supported him fully.

His cousin Beatrice Wangechi narrated how she escorted him in 2007 to try his luck at the Kerugoya stadium during the recruitment exercise.

After 6pm,Kinyua came with the appointment letter detailing when he was expected to report.

Before joining, Kinyua did manual jobs to sustain his family.
Muriithi went on to add that their last communication was on Monday where he was supposed to send him money to have his land tilled.

“We talked on Monday when he visited us and he guaranteed me that he would send me some cash to have our growing maize is tilled, can’t imagine that was the last communication,” Muriithi stated.
