Eric Omondi reveals Stephen Bhingi’s plans after raising Sh 311k for him
It was a smile and great joy for content creator Stephen Okaka, popularly known as Stephen Bhingi, after comedian Eric Omondi helped him relocate from the house he had been living in to better accommodation.
Eric intervened after the staunch reggae music fan recently posted a video showing his house flooded due to heavy rainfall.
“I can’t even rest in this Kenya for a single day… Someone DM me his number. Let’s move him today and change his life forever,” Eric said after coming across Stephen Bhingi’s heartbreaking video.
Later, he contacted the content creator, who is well known for his deep love for reggae and his cheerful demeanor, and initiated a live fundraising session where Kenyans volunteered to contribute towards helping him.
“We are here at Ras Stephen Bhingi’s place. Let’s come together and get him out of this house that floods every time it rains. Let’s change his story,” Eric told his followers via Instagram on Tuesday.
After the fundraising session, the former Churchill Show comedian revealed that they were able to raise approximately Ksh311,000 for Bhingi.
He thanked everyone who contributed and revealed that they had already bought items for Bhingi’s new house after helping him relocate.
“If you give a little more than you take. If you fix a little more than you break. There is a place for people like you,” Eric said.
He added, “TEAM WE HELP EACH OTHER, MAY GOD BLESS YOU GUYS AND ANSWER ALL YOUR PRAYERS. YOU ARE THOSE PEOPLE!!! Today, we are at a shop in Thika town.”
The comedian, who has already expressed his interest in venturing into politics, revealed how they were able to use the funds collected for Bhingi and also urged his followers to continue raising more money for him to fulfill his dream of owning a tuk tuk.
“We managed to raise 311K for our brother. We paid his one-year rent… He wants to buy a Tuk Tuk. Continue blessing him on his number 0723659106 (NAME: STEPHEN OKAKA),” he said.
Eric attached his message with a video of Mr. Bhingi laughing happily after being bought a nice bed using the funds collected.
