Enlist FBI to probe Elgeyo Marakwet chopper crash, Wandayi says » Capital News

KISUMU, Kenya, Apr 20 – Minority Leader in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi has called for  international agencies to unravel the death of Chief of  Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) General Francis Ogolla in a copter crash.

Wandayi stated that a thorough probe is required to get to the root cause of the accident that occurred on Thursday in Elgeyo Marakwet.

“We demand that thorough and expeditious investigations are undertaken and if possible it should be conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI),” he said.

The Ugunja MP stated that similar accidents have occurred in the past and the outcome of investigations has never been conclusive.

“We have lost so many sons in the past and we have not been able to get answers,” he said.

Speaking in Kisumu East on Friday during a recruitment drive of ODM party, Wandayi says the death of Ogolla and that of 9 other service men and a woman should not be brushed under the carpet, but rather investigated to its conclusion.

He indicated that if there was a foul play then that should be unravelled and those behind the planning named through an independent probe.

Wandayi said the Luo community has lost one of their sons to be appointed in the rank of Chief KDF General and his death is a big blow.

“We are within our right to demand justice, not only to Ogolla family but the Luo people in general,” he said.
