Embed climate action in every development plan, Ruto urges global community

President William Ruto has appealed to the global community to embed climate action in every development programme.

The President said climate change is an existential threat to humanity and collaborative efforts to confront it are the solution.

He also called for joint efforts to ensure the availability of the necessary resources to finance climate action.

President Ruto pledged Kenya’s commitment to climate action and affirmed that the country will continue to play its part in combatting the effects of climate change.

The President made the remarks when he addressed the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment at the United Nations Complex in Gigiri, Nairobi.

He also inspected new office blocks at the United Nations Complex, which will accommodate more UN institutions in Nairobi.

The African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) brings together environment ministers from across Africa to discuss key issues affecting the continent, including climate change, pollution, and sustainable development.

The forum, established in 1985, also helps African countries prepare a common stand for global environmental negotiations.
