Elon Musk Delays India Trip, Citing Tesla Commitments » Capital News
Apr 22 – Elon Musk has postponed his anticipated journey to India, citing pressing commitments at Tesla.
The Tesla CEO was exp[ected to arrive in India next week, with plans for meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the announcement of Tesla’s factory in the country.
“Unfortunately, very heavy Tesla obligations require that the visit to India be delayed, but I do very much look forward to visiting later this year,” Musk shared on X on Saturday. Last week, Musk expressed his anticipation of meeting Modi.
During his visit, Musk intended to engage with leaders of Indian space tech startups, including Pawan Chandana, co-founder of Skyroot Aerospace, known for launching India’s first privately developed rocket in 2022. Apart from Tesla (TSLA), Musk oversees rocket company SpaceX and X, formerly Twitter.
Reports suggest Musk was poised to unveil an investment of $2 billion to $3 billion in India, primarily for constructing the new Tesla factory. His trip was initially planned shortly after India commenced its mammoth democratic election, expected to involve an estimated 960 million voters in the country of 1.4 billion.
