EACC, police launch systems review in efforts to tackle graft
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) will launch a systems review of the operations of the National Police Service (NPS) this morning.
The anti-graft body says the joint exercise will target various operational areas within the NPS, specifically examining the systems, policies, procedures, and practices of work at the service.
“The objective is to identify and address any systemic weaknesses and loopholes that could facilitate corruption and unethical conduct in Kenya’s police operations,” said EACC in a statement.
Upon completion, the EACC will compile a comprehensive report of its findings and recommendations, which will be presented to the Inspector General of Police for implementation.
The NPS has frequently been ranked among the most corrupt institutions in Kenya with detectives going after officers pocketing traffic bribes.
The event, which will bring together the top leadership of both the EACC and the NPS, will be officiated by EACC Chairperson David Oginde, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, and Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin, among other officials.
