Diamond breaks YouTube record no other subsaharan African musician has

Diamond Platnumz has grown more and more to ensure his position in the African music industry.

The artist who is currently making waves in continental Europe with his ‘Komasava’ hit has set another record of being the first person under the Sahara desert to reach 9 million followers on YouTube.

Diamond reached that number of 9 million last weekend and was celebrated by the WCB Wasafi label he owns.

In the sub-Saharan region, Diamond leads with 9 million followers while he is followed by Rayvanny with 5.11 million followers, Burna Boy from Nigeria is third with 4.85 million followers, Harmonize with 4.56 million, while Fally Ipupa from the Democratic Republic of Congo rounding out the top five with 4.24 million followers.

Others include Rema, Davido, Ckay all from Nigeria with 4.18 million, 4.02 and 4.02 million respectively while Grammy award winner from South Africa, Tyla is ninth with 3.9 million followers and Mr. Flavor from Nigeria rounds out the top ten with a million followers 3.36.

On the Tanzanian side, Diamond leads the list with 9 million followers, followed by Rayvanny, Harmonize, then Zuchu with 3.32 million, Mbosso with 2.74 million followers, Alikiba with 1.87 million, Lavalava with 1.43 million, Nandy with 1.41 million followers, Marioo with 1.33 million then Rose Muhando scoring the top ten and being the only gospel artist with 1.24 million followers.
