DCI boss expected in court over missing blogger Ndiang’ui Kinyagia
The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohamed Amin, is expected to appear in court at 11 am, following an order issued on Tuesday by High Court Judge Chacha Mwita.
The judge on Tuesday directed Amin to present himself in person to explain the whereabouts of lawyer and blogger Ndiang’ui Kinyagia, who has been missing since June 21.
In his ruling, Justice Mwita expressed concern over the state’s handling of the case, noting that detectives were reportedly the last individuals seen at Kinyagia’s residence in Kinoo before his disappearance.
The judge emphasised that the DCI bears the responsibility of informing the court of Kinyagia’s whereabouts and should produce him, dead or alive.
The DCI maintains that Kinyagia, who is a person of interest for allegedly publishing inflammatory material, is not in the custody of the National Police Service (NPS).
“Wherever he is, I urge him to submit himself to the nearest police station”, he said.
