CDF Ogolla’s son Joel » Capital News
NAIROBI Kenya, Apr 20- Joel Omondi, the late CDF General Ogolla’s son, says that the casket carrying his father’s remains is merely intended for transportation because the General’s remains will be clothed in accordance with his wishes once being buried.
Speaking on Saturday as he paid tribute to his father, Joel described the casket as a simple one, with a rough surface that only cost Sh6,800 as his father wanted his burial to be simple.
“Right now, he is wearing the uniform he donned for number one functions but tomorrow we will wrap him in sheets, remove him from the casket, and lay him in the ground,” Joel stated.
He added that his father wanted to be buried as Jesus Christ who was wrapped in a piece of cloth as he always wanted to be like Jesus.
“He will return to the dust as soon as possible just the way he wanted it and just following the man he admired the most Jesus Christ,” he said
Elder brother to CDF Ogolla Canon Hezekiah Oduor on Friday revealed that the General will be buried without a casket in respecting his wishes.
Oduor said that his brother envisioned a simple ritual burial akin to Muslim practices, where he will be wrapped in sheets, a decision made to alleviate what he described as unnecessary pressure on the family.
Oduor also revealed that that his brother was very prepared for death, and he had shown them where he will be buried when he dies eventually.
Ogolla’s burial will be on Sunday, April 21 2024, at his home in Siaya County.
Gen Ogolla and nine other military officers and servicemen died in a helicopter crash on Thursday, April 18, in the Sindar area, Kaben location, Tot division, in Elgeyo Marakwet.
