Canon Jonathan Kabiru elected third Bishop of ACK Nairobi Diocese
Ven. Canon Jonathan Kabiru has been elected as the third Bishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya- Nairobi Diocese, succeeding Bishop Joel Waweru, who retired last year.
The Electoral College confirmed that the bishop-elect secured victory in the first round of voting, with 23 delegates gathering on Saturday morning at ACK St. Stephen’s Cathedral on Jogoo Road for the election process.
Kabiru competed against Joshua Omungo and Dr. Sammy Wainaina.
The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Electoral College, who also serves as the Diocesan Chancellor.
The church described his election as timely.
“Ven Canon Jonathan Kabiru’s election as the 3rd Bishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya, Nairobi Diocese, comes at a critical time for both the church and the city. His leadership is expected to serve as a beacon of moral guidance and his integrity will be instrumental in addressing the challenges facing this urban population in Nairobi City” ACK said.
