NAKURU, Kenya, Nov 7 – A bus belonging to Simba Coach Company ferrying passengers to Kampala in Uganda caught fire and burst into flames at Morendat between Naivasha and Gilgil Toll Station.

Deputy County Police Commander in charge of Naivasha Sub-County, Anthony Keter said all the two passengers in the bus escaped unhurt.

The officer said the early Thursday morning incident occured when the bus developed a mechanical problem.

“Passengers lost personal effects and goods worth thousands of shillings in the fire while the bus was reduced to a shell,” said Keter.

He observed that the driver was compelled to park on the roadside after fire started from the back wheels.

“The witty driver parked the bus and made time for the passengers to alight minutes before the bus was engulfed in flames,” he said.

A section of locals were seen around the bus trying to collect partly burnt items from the bus which included food products such as food flour.
