Bobi Wine’s docu misses out at the Oscars

Ugandan singer cum politician was Bobi Wine’s documentary was nominated at the just concluded 96th Academy awards.

The docu dubbed ‘Bobi Wine: The People’s President’ was nominated under the Best Documentary Feature category but missed out with “20 Days in Mariupol” taking the prize home.

Other documentaries that were nominated include “The Eternal Memory” “Four Daughters” and “To Kill a Tiger.”

Wine was accompanied by his son and wife at the award ceremony which took place in Los Angeles.

The feature was produced and directed by Christopher Sharp and award winning producer John Battsek. 

The film depicts Wine as the Ugandan opposition leader, former member of parliament, activist and national  musician who risks his life to fight Yoweri Museveni’s regime.

When announcing the news of the film’s nominated in the academy awards, Wine said it was a humbling moment to see the Ugandan story make it to the Academy Awards- the most prestigious and significant awards globally.
