Burna Boy announces free concert to celebrate ‘African Giant’ 5th anniversary
Nigerian Grammy award winning artist Burna Boy will be celebrating the 5th anniversary of his studio album ‘African Giant’ tomorrow in a huge way whilst giving back to the community.
The 33-year-old singer and songwriter will be holding a free concert for all his fans as a thank you for their immense support.
Burna has teamed up with YouTube Music Nights for the ‘free’ virtual performance going down on the 26th of July. The YouTube Music Nights program places global superstar artists on intimate stages, creating electrifying live video content that celebrates the unique connection between artists and their fans.
Speaking about the set performance on the eve of his album’s anniversary the ‘Last Last’ hitmaker said; “This album holds a special place in my heart as it represents a pivotal moment in my career and a powerful statement of African pride,”
Touching on why he’d decided to hold the virtual concert Burna Boy lauded praises on his fans revealing the immense love and gratitude he has towards them.
“Performing these songs for my fans, who have supported me every step of the way, is a reminder of the journey we’ve shared and the cultural impact we’ve made together.
I’m grateful to YouTube Music for helping us create this memorable event and to all my fans for their unwavering support. Here’s to many more years of making music that resonates and inspires,’’ the artist said.
The concert will be live streamed exclusively on Burna Boy’s YouTube channel
His album ‘African Giant’ won, Album of the Year at the 2019 All Africa Music Awards and was nominated for Best World Music Album at the 62nd prestigious Grammy Awards. Its release propelled Burna’s already growing career helping him make history by becoming the first Afro-beat star to sell out a performance at the Madison Square Garden in New York which holds a capacity of 19,500 people.
