List of Raila men nominated to President Ruto’s new cabinet

President William Ruto on Wednesday made more nominations to his cabinet including members allied to Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

The new nominations form the second batch of nominees after he made the first one on Friday, following the dissolution of his entire cabinet save for Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

Before the fresh nominations, Ruto had said that he was looking to consult widely to form a government of national unity.

“I will immediately engage in extensive consultations across different sectors and political formations, with the aim of setting up a broad-based government that will assist me in accelerating and expediting the necessary, urgent and irreversible, implementation of radical programmes to deal with the burden of debt, raising domestic resources, expanding job opportunities, eliminate wastage and unnecessary duplication of a multiplicity of government agencies,” he said when he dissolved the Cabinet.

He further stated that this team would help him slay the dragon of corruption, and consequently making the government lean, inexpensive, effective and efficient.

The leaders allied to Azimio leader Raila Odinga appointed to his Cabinet include:

  • Mining, Blue Economy – Hassan Joho
  • Cooperatives and MSME Development – Wycliffe Oparanya
  • National Treasury – John Mbadi
  • Energy and Petroleum – Opiyo Wandayi

On July 11, Ruto dissolved his Cabinet, sending home all Cabinet Secretaries and Attorney General.

The president said the affairs of the Ministries would henceforth be coordinated by Principal Secretaries until a definitive cabinet is appointed.

He later appointed Mudavadi acting CS in all ministries.
