‘I won’t be a clown in their circus!’ Zari warns in-laws
Zari Hassan has opened up about the intense battle over her late husband Ivan Ssemwanga’s estate for the first time, which has pitted her against her in-laws.
Ivan died on May 25, 2017, leaving behind a substantial portfolio of investments, including the prestigious educational institution Brooklyn City College in South Africa.
Ivan’s first-born son Pinto, was named as the official heir to his property, with Zari as the custodian.
Speaking about the ongoing fight for control of the estate, Zari accused her in-laws of allegedly trying to seize the property from her.
“I am the legal guardian and I have done my job to raise my sons. I know where I stand and how I am fighting to raise my kids,” Zari stated during an interview with Sanyuka TV on Friday, July 19, 2024. “My in-laws don’t know how the kids are educated, their medical needs, or what they eat,” she lamented.
The socialite revealed the cause of tension amid the fallout with her in-laws, accusing them of listening to outsiders, which has only exacerbated the situation despite them being catered for, including receiving monthly payments from Brooklyn City College in South Africa.
She has however suspended these payments after some of her in-laws exhibited poor conduct, necessitating drastic action with the Ugandan asserting that she was ready to face off with her antagonists while safeguarding the interests of her children with Ivan.
“Don’t try me, I won’t be a clown in their circus,” an angry Zari declared.
