Ex-Nairobi Diaries star Vanessa Chettle recalls using sh 1million on drugs

Ex socialite and Nairobi Diaries star Vanessa Chettle has opened up about her controversial life, and the dark side of fame.

She has 3 children from different men. One child sadly died. 

Speaking to Charles Lwanga on youtube, the Eldoret born celebrity got married to an older man in his 60’s after meeting him on Facebook.

She run away from home. 

“I was about 18, it brought a lot of controversy. He was even older than my dad”

She found it a glamorous life

“I liked the lifestyle going out to dinner, nice places, at that age such things attract your attention”

She was legally married for 2 years. Her popularity grew as a socialite. It affected her marriage.

” He became jealous. There were assumptions and coming in late, all the drinking, he would come to events and not understand. it brought a rift, and I had become independent”

She addressed rumors of spreading HIV back then.

“We teamed up with Ghafla and went and did a test. Imagine! Just to shut people up. I did have relationships but nothing serious, like some bigwigs, I don’t really want to mention them”

She had drug addiction.

“I had even given my drug dealer my car. So, I can just get drugs whenever.”

She later sold the car for sh1m

“I ended up back on my bills and everything, so I sold the car and then instead of getting another or investing, I ended up using that million on drugs”

She fell out with her circle of friends. Luckily, she landed a role in Nairobi Dairies Season 3. ” Pay was good, it was about 30,000 per episode”

She appeared in 4 episodes

“Things weren’t going well for me. I moved back home end of 2016,”

That was the end of her socialite life. She headed to Mombasa, jobless and broke, pregnant for a married man.

“I stayed at a backpackers. I ended up in debt. Some good friends used to support me,” She returned to Nairobi where her daughter was born.

She again went to Eldoret, landing club hosting gigs, but was struggling, and drinking heavily.

“Nilikua naishi ka chokora, survival tu.” she stayed in the streets for 6 months.

Her dark journey over 8 years saw her get a second baby daddy, where she was a housewife. That ended with rumors about the identity of the biological dad to her second child.

She got a third baby daddy. Her child was in an incubator but didn’t survive

“Because of all the stress and depression, I haven’t been at my best” Sadly, her 3rd child died. He left her after.
