” I am 34 and all the ladies I have dated, only 2 knew I had Sickle Cell Anemia.
I do not know why crisis come at night around 3:00 AM or 4:00 AM.
There is a day I was busy with ‘mechi’, I started experiencing pain on my waist.
I couldn’t just start swallowing pills, what would the lady would have thought.
I came up with a strategy, If I was having a lady over I would place pain killers in different points in the house.
I would put one in the bedroom, bathroom , and in the kitchen.
We call such episodes crisis because you cannot do anything. Your joints cannot move.”
He further added
“
Akuku went on to share some scary moments he has had.
“In 3rd year I had an episode that I thought would take me out. I went to the hospital and stayed for two weeks.
It starts as a joke, only for you to end up in ICU. One minute you are OK the next you are not.”
Akuku Danger added that the last episode almost killed him
“The third episode was recently when I landed in ICU.Â
I was just at home when I started feeling pain in my waist. I decided to go to a nearby chemist and the pain subsided a little.
I went home and was just chilling, when the pain got worse. I was living alone so I called a cab and requested the guy to jump over the fence.
Luckily I had not locked the door. He carried me and took me to the hospital.
I cannot remember him but wherever he is ‘thank you’.I stayed in the hospital for six months.“
He added
“I never walk around without pain killers. I hate when people start treating me differently because of my condition.”
