Govt working on lasting solutions to stabilize economy, Says Gachagua

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged Kenyans to exercise patience as the government initiates practical solutions aimed at fully stabilizing the economy

Speaking on Monday at Nyahururu Stadium in Laikipia County during the burial service of Mr. John Ndumia Muturi, Gachagua said the President’s main agenda is to ensure better lives for all Kenyans through well-thought-out development programs.

The DP commended President William Ruto for his efforts in rebuilding the economy since he took over the reins of leadership.

He noted that lowering the cost of fertilizer has led to improved yields for farmers and has had a positive impact on the economy, adding that the weakening of the dollar against the shilling is also an imminent sign that the government has taken positive strides in the economy.

“The President is keen on development and improving the lives of the people in the region. We have subsidized fertilizer, the price of unga has gone down, and we are dealing with the huge debt we found. Now, we are constructing roads, dams, and key projects to improve the lives of the people,” the DP said.

Gachagua said, as instructed by the President, he has been assisting him in ensuring the faster implementation of Government’s programs and achievement of intended objectives.

“I have 15 years of experience in the public service and another 15 years in the private sector. I was a Member of Parliament for five years. Leadership calls for experience, and that is the value I bring to the Government,” said the DP.

On the war against illicit brews, Gachagua assured Laikipia residents he would not be distracted until the menace was fully dealt with.

“The fight against illicit brews will not stop. I am happy with the war in Laikipia because it has been ongoing as ordered. The administrators here, led by the County Commissioner, should keep up the fight. We must deal with this menace to save our people from poison,” he said.

He further urged the Church to continue supporting the war for it to succeed.

The Deputy President also assured residents of the troubled parts of Laikipia County of the government’s commitment to ensuring issues of insecurity are tackled and dealt with permanently.

“The President instructed me to come here and ensure security is beefed up. I came, and now order has been restored. President Ruto’s administration will deal with insecurity in Laikipia once and for all, as we promised,” he assured.

While condoling with the family for the loss, the DP said Igwamiti MCA Irene Wachuka is a strong pillar for the President and the Government and will support her during this difficult time.

“She is a reliable pillar for us. The President and I will not abandon her during this difficult time because she has been a true friend to us,” he said.
