DCI Sleuth probe sale of gun that allegedly killed Tom Mboya
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations says it has started investigations after reports emerged that a 92-year-old man allegedly purchased a pistol that was used in killing Tom Mboya.
In a post on X, DCI said action will be taken once the investigation is complete.
“Tom Mboya was a trade unionist, educator, Pan-Africanist, author, former minister and statesman,” DCI said.
“The attention of the DCI has been drawn to an article which reports that a 92-year-old man purchased the pistol that was used in the killing of Mboya.”
Mboya was gunned down on July 5, 1969, at Government Road (now Moi Avenue).
News of Mboya’s assassination spread like wildfire prompting riots in the city as Kenyans flocked to the Nairobi Hospital en masse amid wails and cries.Â
Baton-wielding police officers had to be called in to control the crowds who as seen in the Amin video were overwhelmed and overpowered.
More drama followed a week later during Mboya’s requiem mass at the Holy Family Cathedral on April 12 when angry protestors clashed with the police yet again.
