Meet lady who came out with rungu who went viral during protests
Youth thronged the streets of Nairobi yesterday in ongoing demonstrations to show solidarity for slain Kenyans, with posters that have been widely shared.
Among the crowds were individuals labeled as goons, who caused mayhem, destroyed, and stole property from multiple businesses. Several shop owners armed themselves to prevent looting.
A young woman, initially joining the peaceful protesters, broke away from the crowd after noticing a disturbing trend.
The presence of goons did not please her. Taking a break from the march, she walked along Moi Avenue, wielding a rungu.
The young woman briefly spoke to a Kenyan who shared the video online in the midst of the protests. “My name is Immaculate.
At first, I came out of my house coming here, knowing I’m coming here to protest, like my fellow youth who are protesting,” she said.
“Now things have turned. Ask me why?” she continued, answering her own question, “The goons have been sent. Everywhere!” she loudly exclaimed.
Adding, “Stealing from people. Snatching people’s phones. We are here to deal with them. Deal with them first, then continue with our protest. We are here to protect people’s shops. There are goons who’ve been sent, and we just saw a video.”
Despite the Finance Bill being withdrawn, Kenyans have vowed that protests will continue countrywide.
