Patriotic reason Tanasha postponed release of new song
Artist Tanasha Donna has announced the postponement of the release of her new song, which was scheduled to drop on Friday, due to the ongoing unrest in the country following clashes between police and protesters opposing the 2024 Finance Bill.
Through her Instagram story, Tanasha informed her fans that she had everything ready to release her new song on Friday, but she had to halt the process to mourn those who lost their lives in the protests.
Furthermore, the mother of one, who is also the ex-girlfriend of artist Diamond Platnumz, said she is unsure when the song will now be released, leaving her fans in suspense.
“My first single from my project was supposed to be released today, but we are mourning the deaths of our young heroes, until later,” Donna said.
Unrest has been witnessed in the country, especially in Nairobi and its suburbs, for the past two weeks after Gen Z youths declared ‘the donkey is tired’ and came out in large numbers to protest, demanding the withdrawal of the contentious bill.
Despite the youths being unarmed in these protests, excessive use of force by the police has been observed, leading to the deaths of young people whose only crime was protesting and demanding their rights.
However, on Friday, the High Court ordered that the police should not use excessive force to disperse protesters, including the use of tear gas, water cannons, or even bullets.
