NTV Journalist Rita Tinina is no more
Acclaimed NTV journalist Rita Tinina is dead. Her body was discovered at her residence in Kileleshwa, Nairobi on Sunday, March 17th 2023.
She was expected to be at work at NTV, where she was employed, but did not show up. Concerned by her absence, NTV management went to her house and found her dead.
The cause of death remains unknown, according to the police. Tinina’s family was present when the police arrived to transport the body to the mortuary for an autopsy.
In October 2023, the late Tinina made her return to Nation Media Group’s (NMG) NTV, after departing from Standard Group Limited.
Tinina, formerly a senior reporter at KTN, had previously held the same position at NTV.
As per her LinkedIn profile, Tinina joined Standard Group in December 2002. She held a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies from the University of Nairobi (UoN).
Considered one of the finest reporters by many viewers of the station, Tinina was highly sought-after, with several offers reportedly extended to her from top Kenyan media houses.
During her tenure at NTV, she ascended to become one of the top 10 best news anchorwomen in the country.
Her dedication to the company was so unwavering that in 2012, she purportedly declined an offer from an international media organization to represent the East and Southern Africa region.
May she rest in eternal peace.
