Broadcasting legend Oprah Winfrey recovering after latest ailment
Oprah Winfrey was forced to miss a CBS special after being hospitalized with a stomach ailment. The media mogul, 70, was expected to appear on CBS Mornings on June 11, but was absent, sparking debate about his whereabouts.
Her longtime friend and CBS anchor Gayle King revealed that Winfrey was absent due to a medical emergency.
“He had some kind of stomach bug — stomach flu — things were coming out of both sides,” King said. “He went to the hospital due to dehydration where he had to get an IV. It was very serious.” King said.
“He will be fine. I hope he’s not mad at me for sharing that information now he needs to rest. “King finished.
“I wanted to make it clear that it was important to him and that this situation bothered him so much that he could not be here for you today.”
Of course, Winfrey didn’t care about her fans knowing her ins and outs. Sharing a post confirming her illness, Oprah thanked her “best friend” King via her official social media account Orpah Daily.
“@oprah was scheduled to go on @cbsmornings today to announce her newest appointment for @oprahsbookclub.
We’re happy to share that after receiving an IV for dehydration at her doctor’s recommendation, Oprah is feeling better and healthier. We wish him a speedy recovery 🙏🏽” the post read and concluded.
