Gatundu South MP Kagombe freed
Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe arrested last week over the alleged murder of a boda boda rider in Thika has been freed by a Machakos court.
He was released on a cash bail of Ksh1 million or an alternative bond of Ksh.2 million and a surety of a similar amount.
He was charged after undergoing a mental assessment test on Wednesday as ordered by the Machakos High Court Judge Francis Olel.
He will appear before the same court for mention on the 17th of next month.
In the application, his lawyers argued that the legislator is not a flight risk since he chairs two key parliamentary committees adding that he will not interfere with investigations.
The court also allowed the MP to keep his travel documents. However, a request to have the case transferred to either Milimani, Thika or Kiambu law courts was rejected.
