Govt commits Sh600bn to bolster education system’s human capacity » Capital News

HOMA BAY, Kenya Mar 16 – The Kenya Kwanza government has invested  Sh600 billion towards building the human capacity in the education system in the country.

Principal Secretary for the State Department of Internal Security and National Administration, Raymond Omollo said the government is keen to uplift education from the lowest level up to the highest level of education.

Omollo said more emphasis has been on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVETs).

“I would like to encourage our sons and daughters, please we have TVETs, let’s enroll so that we benefit from those programs,” he said.

The PS said building the country’s economy should be a duty of every Kenyan through acquiring skills from technical institutions.

Speaking in Ndhiwa Constituency on Friday during the burial of Francis Acholla, a former civic leader, Omollo further announced the construction of digital hubs across the constituencies.

He noted that the law has been amended to allow the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) to construct and equip such hubs.

“Like in all the 40 wards in Homa Bay County, we will have digital hubs so that we improve on the digital skills,”  he said.

He said young people must be supported to gain the digital skills to expose them to the outside world and be able to gain.

Omollo assured the former councilors present that the government is up to the task of factoring their pension pay into the budget.

“We had this conversation with the late Councillor and I want to assure his colleagues that this government will not let them down,” he said.

The PS says the process for the financial budget 2024/25 is on and promised to meet the former civic leaders to iron out their issues and front a strong case.

He said President William Ruto administration’s will not neglect the former civic leaders who laid a strong foundation for devolution.
