Jose Chameleone’s estranged wife gives tips of dealing with domestic violence triggers
A 2016 video that shows rapper Diddy physically abusing his girlfriend at the time, Cassie has gone viral. The video was obtained by CNN and the rapper has since reacted to it saying he felt disgusted at his actions.
Jose Chameleone’s estranged wife Daniella Atim has revealed that she was triggered by the video. She gave five tips on how to deal with emotions resurfacing to someone like her who felt overwhelmed.
1.Get off those social media apps ,give yourself grace to breath ,it’s ok to take a break especially from all the ignorant commentary.i
2. Dress nice ,look good and get outside ,spoil yourself,do your favorite activities.Go to the lake ,to your favorite restaurant etc just get outside .i took a 5 hour road trip to the Canada border and had lots of stop overs ,had my favorite coffee ,had a picnic along Lake Superior. I just allowed my skin to feel the sun,the water ,the grass. In the days following ,i went to my favorite live music spot with @remmy_ma and also had a bonfire with my kids.
3. Comfort your inner young girl ,remind her that she is safe now ,re assure her that you are proud of her incredible resilience .Talk to yourself and say “Daniella ,you are safe now “.(you are not crazy for talking to yourself ).
4. Journal or write about how you feel in the moment ,let that steam out of your nervous system. You can even consider writing your former self a letter and reminding her about how badass she was then and how badass she is even now .
5. More importantly, pay attention to the people saying “why did she stay too long ,why didn’t she leave etc”.Those are not safe people ,those are not your people and you need to distance yourself from them.
She added “I also had a petty moment where I secretly and quietly mumbled cuss words at my abuser and that is ok too …don’t feel guilty about it.”
