Linturi to know fate next week as Speaker Wetangula convenes special sitting
Speaker Moses Wetangula has convened a special sitting Monday next week during which the Select Committee investigating the proposed dismissal of Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi will present its report to Parliament.
In a notice on Monday May 6, Wetangula stated that the sitting will take place on Monday May 13 at 2.30PM to consider report by the 11 member select committee.
“Pursuant to the provisions of Article 152(7) of the Constitution and Standing Order 66(5)(b), the Select Committee ought to report back to the House, within ten days, on whether the allegations against the Cabinet Secretary are substantiated,” said Wetang’ula.
Last week on Tuesday, National Assembly voted to impeach the CS through a special motion which was moved by Bumula MP Jack Wamboka.
The MPs will also consider senate amendments to the Division of Revenue Bill and the report of the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning on the ratification of the Multilateral Convention to implement Tax Treaty related measures.
Other issues include, Senate Amendments to the Division of Revenue Bill and the Third Reading of the National Disaster Risk Management Bill.
The National Assembly proceeded for a long recess on May 2, 2024 and is set to resume regular sittings on Tuesday, June 4.
