Ntutu under siege over graft, intolerance as UDA contest gains pace » Capital News

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 25 — Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu is under siege over alleged cases of corruption and political intolerance in Narok County.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei and his Narok counterpart Ledama Ole Kina have accused Ntutu of overseeing looting at the County Government and political intolerance.

The allegations came against the backdrop of a public confrontation at a funeral during which a Member of County Assembly was roughed up ostensibly for opposing Ntutu’s candidature as County Chairperson of the ruling UDA party.

The Mara Ward MCA Chepkwony Kipngeno was drumming up support for Narok West MP Gabriel Tongoyo.

The MCA recorded a statement with the police on Wednesday night fearing for his life.

Kipngeno faced the wrath of the Governor’s security detail for drumming up support for Tongoyo before microphones were turned off on him as was forced out of the podium.

Governor Ntutu is facing a faction fronting Tongoyo for the county UDA Chairperson position in forthcoming grassroot polls.

The MCA criticised Ntutu administration’s much publicised Sh100 million Ward Fund by the county government saying there were no projects in all the wards that reflect millions of shillings said to have been invested there.

“And I would wish to comment on an utterance from one of the speakers here who said Sh100 million has been used in the wards, but why are there no roads in these wards if, really this money reached the wards,” he said during the funeral.

Speaking after recording the statements with the police at the Narok DCI offices, the MCA said he fears for his life after the incident and threatening messages sent to him through his mobile phone.

“I am now fearing for my life following threats from the governor’s office security officers that they would harm me, and that is why I am here,” he told the press.
