NAIROBI, Kenya Jul 23 – Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has finally been charged with the offence of giving false information.

Koimburi appeared before Presiding Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi and pleaded not guilty to two counts brought against him by the prosecution.

Prosecutor Victor Owiti told the court that while admitted at Karen Hospital, the MP issued a press statement claiming he had been abducted by unknown criminals.

The court ordered the MP to deposit a cash bail of Ksh 300,000 and provide three contact persons who will ensure his attendance during the trial.

Additionally, the court directed that the MP present himself, accompanied by his lawyer, at Kilimani Police Station for fingerprinting.

The case will be mentioned on August 5, 2025, when the other four accused persons—who have already been charged—will also appear for pre-trial.
