Ruto mourns former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari
President William Ruto Monday morning led the nation in mourning former Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari who passed away yesterday.
The Head of State said Buhari’s demise is a great loss not only to the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but also to the entire African Continent, which has been immeasurably enriched by his wisdom and steadfast commitment to the liberation and prosperity of the Nigerian people
“On behalf of the Government and People of the Republic of Kenya, I extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Your Excellency, the Government and the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria upon the passing of H.E. President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR,” said Ruto.
He eulogized the late President as an anti-corruption champion during his tenure in office, and highlighted his regional security initiatives to counter terrorism, and supported Africa’s agenda for economic integration.
The President recalled Buhari’s State Visit to Nairobi on January 2016, which marked a significant milestone in our bilateral relations and his congratulatory message following his win in August 2022.
“In this time of grief, Kenya stands in solidarity with the Government and People of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. May the legacy of President Buhari continue to inspire all of us in our pursuit of peace, dignity, and shared prosperity across Africa,” read the statement.
