NAIROBI, Kenya Apr 21 – President William Ruto, Kenya’s Commander-In-Chief, has arrived at Obama K’Ogello Primary School in Siaya for the funeral service of General Francis Ogolla Sunday.
Leading the nation in bidding farewell to the fallen military chief, President Ruto joins thousands in paying their respects.
General Ogolla tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash in Elgeyo Marakwet County on Thursday, alongside nine other officers.
In adherence to his wishes, his interment will be without a coffin.
Honouring his service, General Ogolla, who passed away while in office, will receive a solemn 19-gun salute from the officers he led for nearly a year.
Residents lined the roads from Kisumu to Siaya, where the convoy passed, witnessing the military precision and bidding farewell to General Francis Ogolla. The hearse, escorted by outriders from the military police, proceeded at a moderate speed on the traffic-free roads.
As the convoy moved through diversions along the route, residents waved branches in tribute to their beloved leader, demonstrating the profound impact General Ogolla had on their lives.
The procession from Kisumu provided an opportunity for residents to bid farewell to their esteemed and long-serving leader.
