Health Ministry announces posting of 6,484 healthcare interns

The Ministry of Health has officially posted 6,484 healthcare interns for the 2025/2026 internship cohort.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, the internship is set to begin on July 1st, 2025, a milestone he said underscores the Ministry’s continued dedication to strengthening Kenya’s health workforce and developing a pipeline of skilled, hands-on professionals to support service delivery across the country.

“The interns will be deployed to accredited internship centres, where they will undertake a 12-month structured internship programme designed to provide supervised clinical training and practical exposure in real-world healthcare settings,” he said.

The interns deployed to various centres include: 1,147 medical officer interns, 87 dentist interns, 500 pharmacist interns, 659 BSc clinical officer interns, 1,993 clinical officer interns with diplomas, and 2,098 BSc nursing officer interns.

The Health Ministry has advised the cohorts to collect their posting letters at its headquarters, Afya House, on Monday, June 30th, 2025.
