NCIC to lead nation in marking International Day for Countering Hate Speech
The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) is expected to lead the nation in commemorating the International Day for Countering Hate Speech today (Wednesday).
The event will take place in three informal settlements: Mathare Vocation Training Centre, Undugu Hall, Dagorreti South Constituency (DCC’s Office Grounds) and in Kibera – CFK Africa Olympic.
This year’s theme “Enhance Legal and Non-Legal Measures Against Hate Speech Through a Multi-Stakeholder Approach” resonates with the mission of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), to promote national unity, equity and elimination of all forms of ethnic discrimination, by facilitating equality of opportunities, peaceful resolution of conflict, and respect for diversity among Kenyan communities.
International Day for Countering Hate Speech is observed annually on June 18th following a resolution that was passed by the United Nations General Assembly in July 2021.
